A pip is worth $10 a lot on EURUSD and almost nothing else. This converts properly — through the quote currency, then into your account currency — using the same live rates the signals run on.
A pip always starts life in the quote currency — the second half of the pair. One pip of a standard lot is:
When the quote currency is USD that is the answer. When it is not, it has to be converted — 1,000 yen is not 1,000 dollars — and converted again if your account is not in dollars either. That second step is the one most calculators skip.
There is no agreed pip for XAUUSD. Some brokers call 0.10 a pip, others 0.01. We use 0.01 — a one-cent move, worth $1 per 100-ounce lot. If your broker uses the other convention, every gold figure here is out by a factor of ten. Check before you size a trade on it.
